himagine solutions has made a significant investment in providing ICD-10 education to our 900-plus field employees in preparation for the ICD-10-CM/PCS implementation. All education is delivered via a robust online learning management system (LMS), is SCORM compliant, and is tailored for the adult learner.
The increased specificity in the ICD-10 code set is going to require an increase in documentation and coding accuracy. himagine solutions has met this challenge by requiring our staff to complete 16 hours of Anatomy and Physiology. These courses were developed in-house by our himagine solutions eLearning department in collaboration with subject matter experts with the intent of providing a solid foundation on which to build additional ICD-10 education.
himagine solutions has developed three separate tracks of education for our consultants. Education is delivered in a staggered approach in order to facilitate the completion of education in conjunction with the regulatory implementation of ICD-10.
Track 1 is designed for inpatient and outpatient coders, coding managers, and compliance reviewers/managers and includes 63 hours of education.
Track 2 is designed for clinic/physician/ER coding and includes 48 hours of education.
Track 3 is designed for ancillary staff and includes up to 32 hours of education.
Following completion of the formal education plan, himagine solutions provides an environment of supervised practical application of previously studied ICD-10 theory. Hands-on training is an effective method for training new procedures as it is immediately applicable and will allow immediate visibility into whether the new ICD-10 code set has been mastered.
Following completion of ICD-10 theory and practicum, all participants will be required to take an assessment to ascertain mastery of the new skill set as a work requirement.
