Marna is an RHIA with over 30 years of experience in health information management (HIM). She has worked in a variety of management positions within Arizona within for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare organizations ranging in size from 90 to more than 600 beds. In addition, she has held positions within the vendor space with organizations focusing on HIM support for Release of Information (ROI), clinical systems testing, and HIM outsourcing, and managed a team responsible for building and supporting a clinical documentation program.
Early in her career, Marna focused on ROI before moving on to director-level roles in psychiatric and substance abuse treatment facilities with HIM and medical staff credentialing as her primary areas of responsibility. From there, she pursued opportunities that partnered her HIM background with information technology and held roles in system testing, implementation consulting and application analysis before managing a team responsible for the build of clinical systems.
Marna has managed and directed teams from 8 to 250+ resources and has had all areas of HIM reporting up to her, including HIM operations, coding, and transcription. She has also implemented a number of EHR systems within her various roles and worked in interim HIM and revenue cycle roles. As a result of traveling extensively in a variety of positions, Marna has a keen understanding of the dynamics of remote workforces and is committed to maintaining the high level of communication that is required to keep those teams successful and highly motivated.
Most recently, she has focused on roles that support medical coding and auditing and has built client relationships that focus on great customer service. Marna focuses on exceeding customer expectations while providing ongoing education, feedback, and mentoring in the areas of quality and productivity with the coders and auditors that work within her team.
