Betty holds over 18 years of experience in health information management (HIM), starting as a coder and expanding into management roles as a Senior Coding Manager and Vice President of Coding Operations before advancing to President of Coding Operations at a large, multi-national health information solutions company. Betty has extensive experience managing large coding operations (staff of 12 managers/directors and 230+ coding, audit, and education specialists), which gives her a wide-ranging perspective on the importance of achieving and maintaining quality, productivity, and compliance across all coding functions.

  • She has played an instrumental role in providing the guidance and direction needed to keep coding and auditing operations running as a full service, technology-supported offering.
  • Betty managed relationships with 100+ top-tier clients, bringing together account management and operations teams to ensure client satisfaction.
  • She has worked directly with IT on the creation and maintenance of coding technology (encoder, CAC, workflow, application review) in addition to applying information gained through data analytics to improve coding performance and results.
  • Betty was actively involved in the creation, implementation, and staffing of new revenue cycle management and clinical documentation improvement service lines

Betty was 2017 president of Alamo AHIMA (TX) and is an active member of TxHIMA and AHIMA. She will complete her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration in May 2018 when she will sit for her RHIA certification.
